Welcome to the group 49 website!
This website is an online home and information center for family and friends of FRC's group 49 to follow along as we undertake our journey to China.
Folks at home will be able to follow the links on the right to the following places.
Pictures and comments: Will take you to a blog where pictures will be posted once we get to China. (Blog is short for "web log" and is simply a web journal with periodic updates called posts.)
Links: Other sites of interest, including other websites and/or blogs by group members.
For now I've added a few pictures of my favorite subject (guess who?) to the blog link at right. This should give you an idea of what the postings from China will look like.
Current status -- Referrals are here!!
On November 30 we got the call that group 49's referrals had arrived. (Fourteen months since our paperwork was logged in at the CCAA.)

If all goes well we can look forward to traveling in late January or early February.
The plan...
We hope to be able to update this site daily during our time in China with pictures and comments. As you might imagine, however, this might not be possible depending on time constraints, internet connection, and medical or attachment issues. We won't know until the referrals arrive which province we will be traveling to. Some areas have better internet connections than others.
No matter which province the children are from, however, we will spend the last week or so in Guangzhou at the White Swan, which has a very good internet connection. So at the very least we should be able to update the site then.
Check the "Group 35" link to see the terrible conditions we will be forced to endure at the White Swan. (Actually, since Elena and the other girls were from Yangjiang, about 250 miles from Guangzhou, we got to stay at the White Swan for the entire 10 days.)
